Carol Jean Kearney Lanaville peacefully departed this life and joyously entered her eternal reward on Monday, July 31, 2023. She was born in Greene County to the late William Morgan Kearney and Carrie Leona Wade Kearney on October 9, 1939. In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by six of her siblings.

Carol was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. It was in Carol’s nature to lend a helping hand to anyone or animal in need. Whether family or stranger, everyone was welcome in her home. Taking care of her children was her life’s goal, and she nurtured her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The best of southern cooks, Carol never had a problem filling the seats at her table. Her family enjoyed everything she cooked.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and at other times at the home, 1416 Boyette Drive, Goldsboro. A service to celebrate Carol’s life will be held by the graveside at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 3, 2023, in the Mewborn Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Carol is survived by her husband of 65 years, Mose Lanaville; sons, David Mose Lanaville and Wade Morgan Lanaville; daughter, Diane Carol Smith; grandchildren, Joshua Mose Lanaville (Sharon), Krista Jewel Lanaville, Anthony K. Smith (Whitney) and Amanda Kasie Smith; great-grandchildren, Leslie Waters, Laney Waters, Logan Smith, Lucas Smith, and Lance Smith; and sister, Sarah Kearney.
