July 24, 2023, 49, Goldsboro —
Zachary “Zach” Scott Gurley, 49, went to be with the Lord on his birthday and was surrounded by his family on Monday, July 24, 2023. He was born in Wayne County on July 24, 1974, to Sandra Outland Mozingo and Felix Gurley.
Zach had a heart filled with love for animals. He especially cherished the relationship with his canine companion, Willie. Though the last two weeks separated them due to hospitalization, Zach was grateful to receive a final visit from Willie at the hospital.
A true sports fan, Zach was a devout ECU fan. No matter the sport being played, he was sure to watch at every opportunity. He enjoyed the thrill of reeling in his latest catch on the river, and wrestling was by far his favorite sport.
Always laid back and easygoing, Zach was even-tempered and genuinely kind. Not easily angered, he was able to face all of life’s challenges with calm assurance. Zach was a person of great faith.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 27, 2023, from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Zach’s life at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Pete Norris officiating. The family requests those attending the service to dress casually in remembrance of Zach. Interment will be on Friday, July 28, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. in Pikeville Cemetery.
