William Alton Harris, Jr., 86, passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at Countryside Village in Pikeville. Born in Wayne County on November 19, 1936, he was the son of the late William Alton, Sr., and Thelma Robbins Harris.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Harris.

Bill is survived by his wife of 61 years, Linda Warrick Harris; daughters and sons-in-law, Lynda and Kevin Lange of Apex and Julie and Tracey Barker of Holly Springs; and grandchildren, Morgan Lee Barker and Blakely B. Baker (Dylan), and his nine sweet kitties.

Bill enjoyed the outdoors. He loved boating with his family, being on the water on a set of water skis, or fishing at the coast. Bill also enjoyed being in an airplane where he could take a birds-eye look at God’s creation. When not being active outdoors, Bill could be found cutting a rug (in his early days), and taking care of his and Linda’s many cats!

Bill owned and worked as a contractor for American Realty. He was a member of the Goldsboro Lion’s Club and a veteran of the North Carolina Army National Guard.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Seymour Funeral Home. Following the visitation, a graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Falling Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Grantham.
