United Way to Host Volunteer Fair and Campaign Kickoff

The United Way of Wayne County is hosting its annual Volunteer Fair on August 23 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Maxwell Center.

The Volunteer Fair is an opportunity for local nonprofits to raise public awareness about their missions and allows individuals interested in volunteering to explore options available in the community. Local nonprofit and social service organizations can register for a booth at no cost until August 9.

“This is the 3rd year we are hosting the Volunteer Fair and we are very excited to be able to continue to connect our residents with organizations who are doing great work in our community,” said Sherry Archibald, United Way of Wayne County Executive Director. “We know that volunteer help is a critical need for nonprofits and the Fair will provide an avenue that helps them with that need.”

The Volunteer Fair is supported by a grant from Americorps Volunteer Generation Fund through Volunteer NC in the office of Governor Roy Cooper. Nonprofits wishing to have a booth at the fair can register by visiting the agency website unitedwayne.org/volunteer-wayne or contacting Pilar Parks at (919) 735-3591 or [email protected].

In addition to the Volunteer Fair, the United Way of Wayne County will kick off its campaign season at 11 a.m. The goal this year is to raise $850,000.

Funds raised will support 20 programs provided by 14 local nonprofits that focus on education, health and wellness, basic needs, and financial stability. These programs benefit the citizens of Wayne County. Businesses or organizations interested in supporting these programs by partnering with United Way of Wayne County may contact Savanna Lambert by emailing [email protected].
