GARNER – N.C. Department of Transportation crews plan to close sections of Interstate 40 overnight this week and U.S. 70 for part of the weekend to continue work on the Complete 540 project.

Weather permitting, all lanes of I-40 West will close at the N.C. 42 interchange (Exit 312) Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Westbound I-40 drivers will be detoured onto N.C. 42 East to U.S. 70 West to access I-40 West.

Crews also plan to close U.S. 70 West at N.C. 42 over the weekend to complete work on new ramps to I-40 that was rescheduled from last week due to weather. From 10 p.m. Friday to noon Sunday, drivers on U.S. 70 West and those trying to access U.S. 70 West from N.C. 42 will be detoured down N.C. 42 to I-40.

Motorists are advised to factor the detours into their trips and be mindful of crews working in these areas.
