Gordon Allen Thompson, 67, died suddenly at his home on Friday morning, June 30. He is survived by his wife Charlene S. “Sandy” Thompson of the home; a son, Christopher A. “Chris” Thompson and his fiancée Cheryl Tripp; his daughters, Shannon Stuckey and her husband Lee of Kenly, and Ashley T. Robertson and her husband Zachary of Youngsville; two brothers, Ronnie Thompson and wife Mary of Goldsboro, and Linwood Thompson and wife Joyce of Goldsboro; and his sister, Margaret Rashaw and husband Craig of Goldsboro. Gordon is also survived by his grandchildren; Sarah Thompson, Brianna Rowe, Allison Stuckey, Abby Stuckey, Rylie Stuckey, and Chase Robertson; a great-grandchild, Kaysleigh Rowe; and his special K-9 companions, Kylee and Max.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents; Milford Allen and Melverine Blackmon Thompson.
A service to celebrate and remember Gordon’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 5, at 11 o’clock in the morning at Mount Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church, with visitation beginning at 10 am. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park, Dudley. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society, or to Mount Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Gordon will be remembered as a devoted Christian man, loving husband, father, and grandfather. He also enjoyed camping and always being outdoors, especially spending time with his grandchildren. Gordon loved worshiping at his church, Mount Olive First Pentecostal Holiness, where he had served in several capacities over the years.
