Mallie Pou Honeycutt, III, 73, passed away in Fayetteville at the VA Medical Center on Tuesday, July 4, 2023. Born in Wake County on October 6, 1949, he was the son of the late Mallie Pou Honeycutt, Jr. and Lucy Bennett Honeycutt.
For 24 years, Mallie served his country in the United States Air Force. Mallie had a keen and deep appreciation for the opportunities that his time in the Air Force provided him. Mallie was an excellent woodworker. He could oftentimes be found making furniture. Mallie, along with his wife, Christine, was an avid coin collector. Mallie was a member of the Wayne County Coin Club.
A service to celebrate Mallie’s life will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery at 12 p.m. The family will receive friends from 10:30 until 11:30 at Seymour Funeral Home.
Mallie is survived by his loving wife, Christine Moffett Honeycutt; sons, Mallie Honeycutt, IV and wife, Christy, and Matthew Honeycutt, Sr., and wife Tykeidra; grandchildren, Christina Outzs, Neriah Griffin, Ryleigh Hardy, Curstyn Honeycutt, and Matthew Honeycutt, Jr.; siblings, Robin Coleman, Kellie Snyder, and Mark Honeycutt.
In addition to his parents, Mallie is preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Honeycutt; sister, Karen Keys; and niece, Jena Keys.
