Norma Elizabeth Rush Brock, after being on this earth for just over 84 years, went to be with the Lord Sunday morning, June 18, 2023. She was being cared for at Kitty Askins Hospice Center as the end of her life came.
Mrs. Brock was a long-time resident of the Faison area. She had been employed by the Moses King family at the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store in Faison for 43 years, retiring as office manager. Mrs. Brock was a founding member of the Faison Fire and Rescue Ladies Auxiliary, and she was an active member of Faison Baptist Church.
The Brock family will have visitation at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive on Wednesday, June 21, from 6 until 8 p.m. At other times, they will be at the Brock residence in Faison. Funeral services will be Thursday, June 22, at 11 a.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Andy Beard, with burial to follow in the Faison Cemetery. Mrs. Brock leaves behind a daughter and son-in-law, Sally B. and Alton Bass of Dudley; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary Ray and Heidi Brock of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Kelly Sellers of Leland, Jessica Linder with Phillip Cass of Zebulon, Jason Vernon with wife, Charlotte, Clinton, Jacob Brock of Charlotte, and Ryan Brock of Providence, RI; step-grandchildren, Bryce Wallace with wife, Caitlin, of Norfolk, Va., and Abigail Wallace of Columbia, SC; eight great-grandchildren; a special uncle, Willie Byrd of Faison; a sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Ed Pierce of Wilmington; and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Guyton of Wilmington.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman L. “Jam” Brock; a brother, Wayne Guyton; her mother, Ethel Byrd; her father, Marion Rush; and her grandparents who lovingly raised her as their own, Willie and Lila Byrd.
