June 13, 2023, 72, Goldsboro –

Phillip John Berkhof, 72, completed his earthly walk on Tuesday, June 13, 2023. He passed peacefully at home after sweet fellowship with family and friends. Born on June 11, 1951, in Grand Rapids Michigan, he was the son of the late John Berkhof and Marcia Huiner Berkhof.

Phillip is survived by his loving family: wife, Lorrie Cox Berkhof; children, Alexandra “Nikki” Berkhof, Nathan Berkhof, Zachary Berkhof, Asa Berkhof; and his brother, Louis Berkhof. He is also survived by many cousins, including near-sisters Judy Dekker and Ann Buursma; as well as beloved nieces Beki Clark and Marissa Savas.

Many friends, neighbors, co-workers, and fellow church members have been special to Phil. He served the body of Christ in many ways during his lifetime; from children and youth ministries to prison ministry, to serving as a Deacon. A grateful member of Gateway Community Church in Pikeville NC, it was his desire that everyone know the love of Christ.

The family will receive friends during a time of visitation on Sunday, June 25, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home in Goldsboro. A service to celebrate his life will be held in the chapel at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Thayer Stamper officiating.
