Michael Thomas Hinnant

Michael Thomas Hinnant

June 12, 2023, 30, Grantham –

Michael Thomas Hinnant, 30, originally of Grantham, sadly passed away on June 12, 2023, in a tragic workplace accident in SC. He had relocated to start his family. Michael was born January 23, 1993, in Wayne County, to Deanna Grady (Hinnant) & the late Steven Michael Hinnant.

He will be remembered as the type of person who would do anything he could for anyone. He was truly one of the “Good Ones”.  He worked from sunup to sundown and when he wasn’t at work, he was doing something whether it was fishing, riding horses, or riding a dirt bike with his friends down at Busco Beach, where he could “throw up some dirt”, doing something with wood, stopping over at a friend’s house or just out in the building in the backyard working on something. He enjoyed going and doing life to its fullest, being with his friends and family with Kai right there with him just about everywhere he went. If you saw Thomas, you were likely to see Kai. She was known as the “Yard Dog Supervisor” at work before he relocated. His love for animals was shown in return from them by the love that they felt for him. He made friends anywhere he went & always engaged in conversation.

He will be sorely missed and is survived by his mother, Deanna Grady; sister and brother-in-law, Emily & Zachery Cook; girlfriend, Sarah Edge & daughter Scarlett Desiree who is due in September. He is also survived by Sarah’s parents Kristine & Philip Edge and brother James Edge; MeMaw, Carol Grady; aunts and uncles, Rhonda & Garrett Carter, Jimmy & Pen Hinnant; Junior Taylor (Connie), Bennie B Grady Jr (Pamela) and Kevin Grady. Cousins, JR & Jacquelyn Grady; Hunter Carter; Tiffany Hinnant (Kyle); Jimmy Hinnant; Allen & Amanda Hinnant, Samantha & Jordan Alexander (kids), Sonya & Renee Locklear, and his childhood friends, Dustin, Allen, Josh & Sam as well as many, many more. He leaves behind his dogs Kai, Ginger, and Poseidon, little brothers Wade and River, Gunner, Shooter, and his horse, Rally.

Preceding him in death are grandparents, James & Marie Hinnant, and Bennie Bruce Grady; great-grandparents, James & Grace Taylor, and Hazel Grady; Aunts and Uncles, Thomas & Edna Carr, and Bob & Lora Wood.

Thomas was a beautiful person inside and out. His smile & laugh were so infectious & would light up any room. He cared so deeply for the people around him and made an impact on so many lives. He will forever be missed. He Loved his Mama & Sister and there was nothing or no one that could step in the way, Sarah was added to his heart along with Scarlett, and his wall around them 4 grew stronger and he worked even harder than ever to take care of his family. He had no problem relocating to Grand Strand Horseback Riding in Aynor SC; starting over leaving everything & everyone at home behind him and doing so with pride knowing he was on a new journey in life and we embraced him in this. His Girls will Forever Miss Him.

We have 30 years of memories and a legacy that’s to be admired.  Until we meet again our “T-Bone”.

Family and friends are welcome to attend the memorial service at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, 2873 US-117, Dudley, NC 28333 on Saturday, June 17th at 2 pm with visitation following. No Graveside service as it was his wish to be cremated and his ashes will be placed by family at a later time. The family will also receive friends at other times at Deanna Grady’s residence.

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance.”
