On June 10, 2023, Deputies from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Old Grantham Rd and Haywood Dr. due to a traffic violation. During the course of the stop, a search of the vehicle and its occupants was conducted. As a result, 62 year-old Charles Craig Carter was found to be in possession of illegal narcotics and was subsequently arrested.

Following his arrest, Mr. Carter was transported to the Wayne County Magistrates Office where he was given a $154,000 secured bond. He was then turned over to the Wayne County Detention Center for processing.

The charges against Mr. Carter include conspiring to traffic methamphetamines, trafficking methamphetamines, possession with intent to sell or distribute methamphetamines, simple possession of Sch VI, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting a public officer.
