Dazetta Baldwin Dixon

May 22, 2023, 89, Goldsboro –

On Monday, May 22, 2023, Dazetta Baldwin Dixon quietly transitioned to her eternal resting place at Kitty Askins of Goldsboro NC. She was the daughter of the late James E. and Sarah Parks Baldwin.  Her life’s journey started on November 23, 1933, in the Elroy Community, Wayne County, NC.

“Decky” and “Aunt Daisy”, as she was affectionately called, were educated in the Goldsboro City schools and graduated in 1952 from Dillard High School, Goldsboro, NC.  Dazetta retired from the North Carolina Department of Human Resources Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services, Goldsboro, NC in 1993.

She was united in holy matrimony in 1952 to her late husband Raphael Dixon Sr. They celebrated over 68 loving and dedicated years of matrimony.

Dazetta was a devoted member of Goldsboro Chapel Free Will Baptist Church since her childhood and was a faithful and dedicated member until her health failed.  She was an exceptional seamstress and her talent is displayed as window treatments in the church’s Fellowship Hall and the Pastor’s Study (new church), as well as choral outfits for the Junior Choir for Goldsboro Chapel (former church).  She also served as a member of the Epicureanettes, along with her husband who was an Epicurean.  Both organizations served as social organizations for the fulfillment to assist the needy in Goldsboro and Wayne County communities.

Dazetta lived life to the fullest and she was a magnificent cook, baker, as well as an exceptional seamstress. She also enjoyed crocheting throws and blankets.  Her passions were God, family, mouth-watering food, and being stylish and sophisticated.  She loved her family and would do anything for her family and friends. She made everyone who knew her laugh and cries at her stories, expressions, and sayings she loved to share. Our family is so blessed and grateful to know she is finally at peace.

Surviving to cherish her precious memories; her loving daughter, Sharon Dixon Jenkins of the home; grandchildren, Makayla (Andre) Walden, Anthony Dixon, Shakara L. Jenkins, and Tremayne Dixon; great-granddaughter, Arianna; daughters-in-law, Shirley Dixon and Diane Dixon; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and friends.

Dazetta is now rejoined with her husband Raphael Dixon Sr., her two sons, Raphael Dixon Jr. and Anthony Dixon; one grandson, Larry Jenkins Jr.; son-in-law, Larry W. Jenkins Sr.; five brothers, William H. Baldwin, Leroy Baldwin, John Dennis Baldwin, Theodore Baldwin, and James Baldwin Jr.; three sisters, Inettie Pearsall, Pauline Campbell, and Catherine Johnstone.

Please keep Sharon and the entire family in your prayers in the days ahead.
