Wingman Land Short After Extra Innings

With the game stretching to 12 innings, the Cloves managed to come out on top despite the Wingmen’s best efforts in extra innings. With the 11-7 loss, the Wingmen are on a three-game losing streak, they weren’t expecting this kind of turnout.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, with the Wingmen leading 5-0, the Clovers gradually gained ground to grab the lead.

It all began when Isaiah Thomas and Alexander Levesque both scored in the top of the fifth inning to make it 5-2. The Wingmen were able to increase their lead to 6-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning thanks to a run scored off a pop fly to center field by Judson Collier, to bring in Spence Carswell.

Paxton Huff and Jack Starke each drove in two runs for the Clovers in their counterattack, which helped them tie the game at six runs each. In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Wingmen regain the lead 7-6 after the umpires made a questionable ruling. In the top of the eighth inning, Clovers Isaiah Thomas does a big hit left field giving him a timely RBI to tie the game back up 7-7.

The game remained scoreless until the Clovers scored four runners into home base in the bottom of the 12th inning off of two RBIs and a steal to take an 11-7 advantage, which crushed the Wingmen’s hopes to rally to score more runs.

The Wingmen’s next game is against the River City Skippers on June 7 at 5 p.m. to see if they can snap their losing streak.
