Claire Sheehan Kubel, 92, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at Signature Healthcare in Chapel Hill. Born in Brooklyn, New York on December 7, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Gladys Over Sheehan.

In addition to her parents, Claire was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-three years, Thomas Moore Kubel, and brothers, John Hancock and Edward Hancock.

Claire is survived by her sons, Thomas Moore Kubel, Jr. (Susan) and Douglas Bryan Kubel (Katherine); daughter, Carol Anise Kubel; grandchildren, Heather Wright (James), Thomas Moore Kubel III (Nicole), Allison Crouch, John Lee Hinson III (Allison), and Matthew Hinson; great-grandson, Elijah Wright; and sister, Evelyn Hopkins.

A service to celebrate Claire’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2023, in the sanctuary of St. Paul Methodist Church with Reverend Phyllis Vail and Reverend Rick Winders officiating. Entombment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. in the church parlor prior to the service.
