On May 21, 2023, our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend, Freddie Lee Jones, lovingly known as Fred, at the age of 97 was quietly called home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ while resting at the Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, NC. Freddie was born April 1, 1926, in Johnston County, North Carolina to the Late Mr. John Boston and Mrs. Arrie Weathersbee Jones. He was a World War II Veteran of the United States Navy, a farmer, an operating engineer, and an entrepreneur. Freddie and his wife, Mrs. Singer B. Jones, owned and operated the Soul Bowl Cafe on the corner of Elm and Leslie Streets in Goldsboro, NC.

The celebration of his life will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023, at 11:00 am at Best Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 1065 Tommy’s Road, Goldsboro, NC. There will be a viewing on Thursday, June 1, 2023, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm and a viewing prior to the service on Friday, June 2, 2023, from 10:00 am to 10:45 am at Best Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 1065 Tommy’s Road, Goldsboro, NC. He will be laid to rest at 2:00 pm June 2, 2023, in the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, 164 Longs Plant Farm Road, Goldsboro, NC.
