Vivian M. Pennington, 81, finished her course and was received into the presence of her Lord on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, while surrounded by her family. Vivian was born in Wawatam, Michigan on May 15, 1942, to the late Silas and Mary Smith Combs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Pennington; son, Donald Pennington; and grandson, Anthony Reyes.

She was a member of Oak Forest Church of Christ. Possessing a servant’s heart, Vivian considered it life’s purpose to care for those around her. Always willing to help others in the community, Vivian showed her love for God through her love of her neighbor. Being an excellent cook, friends, neighbors, and family alike were blessed by the many meals prepared by her hands.

A long-time employee of Cherry Hospital, Vivian retired after a successful career in the Dietary Department.

Family was Vivian’s top priority. She cared tirelessly for those in her family and was proud of her roles as wife, mother, and MaMaw. For her family, she was the absolute best.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 21, 2023, from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel with Lennie Reagan and Robert Goff officiating. Interment will be on Monday, May 22, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the Blevins Cemetery in Whitetop, VA.

Vivian is survived by her children, Ron Pennington and wife, Janet of Arlington, TN, Michael Pennington of Pikeville, Michele Pennington of Goldsboro, and William Pennington of Kenly; 14 grandchildren, Wade, Ross, Heath, Dustin, Chris, Will, Gage, Dalton, Kala, Jacob, Tyler, Alan, Matthew, Alex and Melissa; and several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Johnny Conley, Jackie Conley, Jim Conley, and Kermit Conley; sister, Rose Hackworth; and several nieces and nephews she loved very much.
