Traffic Stop Lands Convicted Felon in Jail

A Dudley man has been arrested after a traffic stop for fictitious plates that led authorities to a concealed firearm.  Edward Altonez Brown, 32, was stopped by Goldsboro Police Department’s Housing Unit in the 800 block of Day Circle for displaying a fictitious registration plate.  After the traffic stop, officers conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle to find the driver was in possession of marijuana and cocaine.  Authorities then discovered a concealed firearm under the driver’s seat.

The driver, Edward A. Brown, is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing a firearm.  Brown has felonious convictions for Fleeing to Elude Arrest (F) and Second-Degree Kidnapping (F). 

Following the traffic stop, Brown was arrested and charged with Possession of a Firearm by Felon (F), Possession of Cocaine (F), Possession of Marijuana (M), Carrying a Concealed Gun (M), and Displaying a Fictitious Registration Plate (M).  Mr. Brown was held on a $15,000 secured bond at the Wayne County Jail.
