Sandra Kornegay Outlaw

May 20, 2023, 71, Goldsboro –

Sandra Kornegay Outlaw, 71, passed away today at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family. Born in Sampson County, she is the daughter of the late Herbert and Jane Kornegay. Sandra attended Emmaus Baptist Church and retired after 25 years of service with the Wayne County Health Department. Not one to sit still, after retirement, she started working at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home making sure the facilities were clean before and after services. Before going to work for the county, Sandra helped rear two children and work on the family farm.

A service to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday at 7:00 P.M. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Willoughby officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening following the service.  Committal services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. in Wayne Memorial Park.

Sandra is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Marcia and Jeff Belding of Tucson, AZ; a son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Jennifer Outlaw of Dudley; her grandchildren, Kayla Whitfield and husband, Steven, Alanna Outlaw, Anthony Belding, and David A. Price; a great-grandson, Chase Whitfield; sisters, Dianne Newman and Gail Herring and husband, Randall; special friends, Carol Cotton, Teresa Blankenship, Stephanie Howard, Susie Teachey, and Darlene Morris; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, and her pet Chihuahua, Sweet Pea.

In addition to her parents, Sandra was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Angela Leigh Outlaw, a brother-in-law, Buddy Newman, and her chihuahua, Tanner.
