The cause of a single car accident that killed two people overnight is unknown.

Around 3 am Sunday, a red pickup truck, traveling south on Highway 13 towards Goldsboro appeared to run off the road and strike a tree.

The investigation is continuing into the cause of the accident by the NC Highway Patrol.
