Mount Olive Duo Named IWLCA All-Region

The Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) announced the NCAA Division II All-Region teams for 2023 and Conference Carolinas had a pair of Mount Olive student-athletes earn the honor.

Conference Carolinas women’s lacrosse Offensive Player of the Year, Ali Davis, and Defensive Player of the Year, Alexis Stanley, each earned second team All-South Region accolades.

A graduate student playing attack from Hampstead, New Hampshire, Davis led the Conference Carolinas regular-season and tournament champion Trojans with 62 goals and 76 points as she added 14 assists for Mount Olive. She had four game-winning goals in 2023 to go with 22 ground balls, 12 caused turnovers and 35 draw controls. She had at least three points in all but two games this season and scored a goal in all 17 games for UMO.

Stanley, a graduate student defender from Famington, Minnesota, collected a team-best 52 draw controls and caused 22 turnovers this season. She gobbled up 28 ground balls and had a goal on her only shot of the season. She also posted one assist this year. She anchored a defense that allowed less than 10 goals per game and permitted just 50 percent of the shots taken this season to be on goal.

These student-athletes are now eligible to be named to a national IWLCA All-American team. The IWLCA will announce the 2023 All-American teams on May 18.
