Deborah “Debby” Johnson Libby, 94, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Sunrise at North Hills in Raleigh. Born in Portland, Maine on May 1, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Ernest B. and Edna Graves Johnson.

Debby is survived by her children, Becky McKinnon and husband, Dave, Kim Mitchell and husband, Mike, Julie Williams, and Damon Libby and wife Vanessa; brother-in-law Choppy Candage; sister-in-law Beverly Johnson; grandsons, David, Alan (Kara), Shane, Tyler (Reagan); granddaughters Beth (Ron), Brittany (Mitchell), Jana (Mike), Holly (Derek) and 26 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Debby is preceded in death by her husband, David Libby; daughter, Jan Libby; sister, Diana Candage; and brother, David Johnson.

Debby was a fun-loving, active person who loved to be surrounded by friends and family. She was active in Center Stage Theater for many years, both acting in plays, as a seamstress, and later writing articles for the newspaper. She was also an avid bowler and NC Senior Doubles Champion for many years with her special friend, Walt Bryant.

A service in loving memory of Debby will be held on Monday, May 15, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. Internment will follow the service at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
