Benjamin Ennis Rollins, Sr. passed away at his home on May 7, 2023. Ben was born on June 4, 1929, in Wayne County to the late Leonidas Rollins and Mabel Chase Rollins. He was married to the love of his life, Betty Jean Rollins, for 68 years.

Ben was best known for being the Supervisor of the Wayne Soil and Water Conservation Department, where he served for over 40 years. He knew his trade and was well respected. Ben’s career was spent at the Goldsboro News-Argus and retired as the Circulation Manager. He was also a dedicated and loyal member of Walnut Creek Free Will Baptist Church, serving as a superintendent and deacon. At the time of his death, Ben was their oldest living member.

A Graveside Service will be held for family and friends at the Rollins Cemetery on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at 11 am. The family will greet friends immediately following the service.

Ben is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Grantham Rollins; sons, Benjamin “Benny” Ennis Rollis, Jr. and Lee Rollins; nieces and nephews, Danny Hail, Gary Rollins, Mabel Rollins, Jenny Rollins, and Jeff & Chris Grantham. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, R.L. and Grace Rollins.
