Johnny Franklin Gervin

April 29, 2023, 65, Goldsboro –

Mr Johnny Franklin Gervin, 65, of Goldsboro transitioned from this earthly life Saturday, April 29, 2023, at the Goldsboro Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born January 22, 1958, in Wayne County, he was the son of the late Carrie Barnes.

Johnny was a member of the Goldsboro Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah’s Witness. He served as a faithful witness as long as his health allowed.

Johnny was definitely known for being good with his hands. He was a proud roofer with Wayne Roofing for over 15 years. He loved music, fishing, and sports. If the Patriots or the 49ers were playing, he would be sitting in front of the TV pulling for his team. In his eyes, when it came to college basketball, UNC was the only team that existed.

The name “Grill Master” was given to him by all who ever ate anything he prepared on the grill. His grilled chicken would melt in your mouth and have you coming back for more. If there was anything that could be cooked on the grill, he did it and it tasted great.

Johnny had a loving and giving heart. If he felt that you were in need, he didn’t hesitate to lend a helping hand. He loved his family and friends and would give the shirt off of his back for them all. His baby girl April was truly the apple of his eye.

The love that he shared will continue to linger in the hearts of his loving daughter, April Gervin-Rodgers, and husband, Simeon; his sons, Cory Betts and Chris Best; brother, Charles Gervin; special friends, Diane Gervin and Veronica Gervin; several nieces and nephews including special nephews, Ethan Gervin and wife, Shontelle, and Andre Gervin; sisters-in-law, Shirley Gervin and Wanda Gervin; his “fur grandbaby”, Thor; a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to his mother, Johnny was preceded in death by his brother, Merle Gervin, and “Grandpa Shine.”

At the family’s request, the celebration of his life will be private and they encourage all that knew him to cherish the love and fond memories of his life.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Online condolences may be expressed at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
