Antoinette Denise Mason-Kimbrough, 62, completed her earthly walk of life on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at Duke-Raleigh Hospital. Born on June 16, 1960, in Novato, California, she was the daughter of the late Harvey Pettus Sr. and Dorothy Lawhorn Pettus.

A devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she lived life to the fullest. She was always upbeat and happy. As much as she loved her family and friends, nothing compared to the love that she had for her Lord and Savior. Being raised in a Christian home, Antoinette continued to cultivate her faith in God. While living in Kentucky, she became a faithful member of Living Word International Ministry’s Church, she served and held various positions such as; Community Street Ministry, feeding the hungry, the clothing ministry, as well as working closely with the mothers of the church. She was also a proud member of the Christian social group, The Good News Club. Antoinette served her country in the United States Air Force.

A service to honor Antoinette’s life will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023, at First African Baptist Church in Goldsboro at 12:00 p.m. with a viewing from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest at The Eastern North Carolina Veterans Cemetery with military honors at 2 p.m..

Those left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Shawna’ Poteat and husband, Marquis, Breauna Dones and husband, Kaleb; her grandchildren, Kennedi Poteat, Marquis Poteat, Jr., Mariah Poteat, Landen Poteat; her sister, Michelle Edmondson, and husband, Jesse; her brothers, Harvey Pettus, Jr. and wife, Anika, Michael Pettus and wife, Alicia; brothers-in-law, Carl Mason and wife, Chris, Charles Mason; sisters-in-law, Deborah Foster and LaShana Mason and husband, Eric; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Anthony Mason; her niece, Shemiah Foster; and her nephew, Nehemiah Edmondson.
