April 24, 2023, 68, Mount Olive –
Robert Hall Faison, Mount Olive/Faison area resident, passed away early Monday morning, April 24, 2023, at ECU Health-Duplin Hospital at the age of 68.
Known mostly as Rob, he was born in Merced County, California to parents, Lt. Col. Haywood Renick Faison, Jr. (U.S. Air Force) and Myrtle Minott Faison, both deceased, and was one among their other sons, Haywood R. Faison III, John Stevens Faison, and Francis “Frank” Minott Faison.
Rob leaves behind his wife, Angela T. Faison, of the home; a daughter, April Christine Faison Slye, and husband, Brandon, and a grandson, Michael Opey Slye, of Stantonsburg.
Rob’s working career began at a young age with Isle of Palms Red and White in Charleston, SC where he was employed for 24 years, working his way up to becoming a store manager. Here his tenure of service was with three different store ownerships. He then relocated to North Carolina and became associated with Piggly Wiggly where he was employed by the Moses King family in their Faison and Mount Olive locations, also as store manager.
Rob’s favorite pastime was music. He had been part of several bands including Southern Touch, Dusty Creek, Smoke House, 13 South, and Midnight Breeze. In 1977 he was inducted into the Low Country Music Hall of Fame in Charleston for his affiliation with Acropolis Band. His musical enthusiasm was an inspiration to many.
Rob’s life will be remembered on Saturday, April 29, at 2 p.m. in a service being held at Faison Presbyterian Church in Faison, N.C. Officiating will be the Rev. Marvin Mervin. Following the service, there will be a time of greeting and fellowship.
