Donald Henry Moore

Donald Henry Moore

April 18, 2023, 75, Goldsboro –

Donald Henry Moore, 75, entered his eternal home with his Lord and Savior, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville. Donald was born in Paducah, Kentucky to the late Guffrey Neal Moore and Aurelia Quarles Moore on September 19, 1947. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife and the mother of his children, Iva Jean Shaw Moore, and his siblings: Bob Moore, Penelope Nichols, Ruth L. Thompson, and Edwin C. Young.

Donald spent 20 years serving his country in the United States Air Force. He retired with the rank of TSgt. He was not one to sit idle. Following his military career, he began working with Coca-Cola and later retired from Wayne Memorial Hospital. This second retirement didn’t slow him down either. He was a people person and working as a driver with Hill’s Tire and Auto Service in Goldsboro allowed him to visit with others. It was the perfect post-retirement job for Donald.

Outside of work, Donald was a member of the Wayne Masonic Lodge #112 F.M. & A.M. in Goldsboro. He loved the outdoors. It was where he felt free and could simply enjoy life. He could be found fishing, riding his motorcycle, or driving his tractor on any nice day. If the day was less than nice, you would likely find him enjoying a meal at the Cracker Barrell.

He worshiped the Lord for many years and served as a deacon at Mount Zion FWB Church in Kenly. After his marriage to Brenda, he began worshipping at Patetown Church of God where he found a new home to worship. God blessed him with family and they brought him much joy. From his wife to his children and grandchildren, his day was made for spending time with them.

Some might say Donald was hard-headed. But it was really that he was determined and had a way it should be done his way. That was, after all, the right way. If anyone had a moment, Donald was more than happy to share a word. He simply enjoyed getting to know others. His presence is already missed.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 21, 2023, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Patetown Church of God followed by a service to celebrate Donald’s life at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary with Pastor Marvin Wiggins, Pastor Jimmy Scott, and Pastor Ed Godwin officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Zion FWB Church Cemetery, 9300 Johnson Farm Road, Kenly, NC.

Donald is survived by his wife, Brenda S. Moore; children, Kenneth “Kenney” Wade Moore and fiancée, Brandy Walston, Donna Jean Sasser and husband, Jeff and Tina Janell Bradshaw and husband, Chris; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by Brenda’s children, Wendy Taylor and husband, David, Michael Joyner and wife, Brandy and Marsha Eakes and husband, Roger; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be given to the charity of one’s choice.

Services are entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
