Henri Ann Fitzgerald Potts, a well-known and much-loved Mount Olive resident, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2023,  at Brookdale Senior Living in Goldsboro, NC, where she was surrounded by family, friends, and caregivers. Born February 13, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Henry M. Fitzgerald and Agnes M. Fitzgerald and the loving wife of the late William Allen Potts.

Ann was born in Princeton, NC, and was a childhood member of the First United Methodist Church of Princeton. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School and College in Raleigh, NC, and continued her education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in Education, after which she was an elementary school teacher.

Throughout her life, Ann kept her family, friends, and church close to her heart. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Mount Olive, where she faithfully served on many committees, including the United Methodist Women. She also was a member and officer of the Twentieth Century Club, the Galatea Club, and the Mt. Olive Travel Club. Being a member of several Bridge clubs, Bridge was one of her favorite pastimes and she always looked forward to her many Bridge games with friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, William Allen Potts; her first husband, John Dwight Elting of Roanoke Rapids, NC; her sister, Marie Fitzgerald Kearney of El Centro, CA,

Ann is survived by her daughters, Maridee P. Clark (Randy) of Cary, NC, Allyson P. Campbell of Martinsville, VA, and Laura P. Henderlong (Michael) of Far Hills, NJ; her grandchildren, Stephen D. Clark of Greenville, NC, William A. Clark of Cynthiana, KY, Christiana C. Jarrett (Jess) of Martinsville, VA, Allyn Ann Campbell of Austin, TX, William J. Henderlong of Far Hills, NJ, and Patrick F. Henderlong of Far Hills, NJ; three great-grandchildren, Hudson and Campbell Jarrett, and Kensley Clark; niece Susan J. Brock of El Centro, CA.

The family is especially grateful for the loving support of family and friends throughout the years, and would especially like to thank the staff of Brookdale Senior Living of Goldsboro, NC, as well as Wendy Gauthier and her caregivers, for their compassionate and never-ending care.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 18, at 11:00 am in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive, conducted by Pastor Michael Binger. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery, and at the home at other times.
