Bobby Jean Weaver Hinson

Bobby Jean Weaver Hinson

April 13, 2023, 84, Goldsboro –

Bobby Jean Weaver Hinson entered into her eternal reward on Thursday, April 13, 2023, while being cared for at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. She was born in Wayne County to the late John William Weaver, Sr., and Mady Bell Rowe Weaver on April 18, 1938. In addition to her parents, Bobby was preceded in death by her husband, John Lee Hinson, Sr., and brother, Johnny Weaver.

Bobby met and married the love of her life, John Lee Hinson, Sr., and together they raised their family. She was no stranger to hard work. Her work ethic extended from life at home with her family to her work at Cherry Hospital. She was a dedicated employee and retired after many years of service.

The best of southern cooks, Bobby never had a problem filling the seats at her table. Her family enjoyed everything she cooked, but her baking was second to none. Gardening was what Bobby loved most of all her hobbies. Putting her hands into the soil and tending her flowers gave her pleasure and peace. It was rare not to find a variety of flowers in a vase or jar somewhere in the house and in her yard. Her green thumb was a gift that gave her and so many others joy.

Strong-willed and determined, there was nothing that Bobby couldn’t do when she set her mind to it. She was a loving mother and grandmother and cherished the time she spent with her family. Most of all, Bobby was a child of God. She was a member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church. Her heart’s desire was to see Jesus, and her family celebrates that she met her Savior and was reunited with her family at Heaven’s gates.

Bobby is survived by her sons, John Lee Hinson, Jr. and wife, Angela and Mark A. Hinson and wife, Tina; daughter, Lisa H. Goff and husband, Greg; grandchildren, John L. Hinson, III and wife, Allison, Garrett D. Joyner, and Matthew A. Hinson; sisters, JoAnn Hartley and Delores Kay Jones and husband, Tim; sisters-in-law, Linda Weaver and Mildred Talton; and several nieces and nephews she loved very much.

A service to celebrate Bobby’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2023, in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Rev. Christian Powell officiating. The family will receive friends during the hour prior to the service from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The interment will be private for the family at Wayne Memorial Park.
