The Wayne County Reentry Council Hosts a Community Resources Day Party

Wayne Community College and the Wayne County Reentry Council are celebrating Second Chance Month by trying to help formerly incarcerated people to move forward with their lives.

Renita Dawson, the Executive Director of the Reentry Council of Wayne County explains, “We have family or loved ones who have been released from prison or who are justice-involved that are having a hard time transitioning back into our community. And so, reentry and Second Chance Month is very important.”

The event is scheduled for Wednesday, April 19th at the Day Reporting Center parking lot at 714 Simmons Street from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.

“We can help individuals get the education they need and point them toward the employment they need to have better careers to earn life-sustaining wages for their families as they transition back into the community,” said Dawson.

Resources for housing, mental health education, and transportation will be represented. For more information, call Brandi Matthews, Reentry Coordinator at (919) 739-6930.
