 April 9, 2023, 86, Mount Olive –

Born in Fort Story Virginia to Isaac Henry Sr. and Blanche Ellen (Cooper) Flora. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Virginia Carol (Wilson) Flora of the home. Ike is survived by four children: daughter Carol (Fred) Kamosa of Albertson, son Glen Flora of Kentucky (Brenda Flora of Florida), daughter Bonnie Flora (friend Willie “Bud” Johnson) of Mt Olive, son Kevin (Damika) Flora of Goldsboro. Sister Annie Miller of Florida. Several nieces and nephews.

Grandchildren: Michelle (Ricardo) Espinosa of Mt Olive, Crystal (Guillermo) Balleza of Mt Olive, Josh (Logan) Flora of Florida, Jennie (Francis) Brennan of Kentucky, Andrew and Jordan Flora of Dudley. Cody (Maria) Strickland of Fayetteville, Kevin (Ruby) Strickland of Wilson, Brandon Strickland of Goldsboro, and Amya (Jose)Moreno of Four Oaks.

Great Grandchildren: Joel (Charity Joyner) Espinosa of LaGrange. Austin (Cristal Ambriz) and Leigha Espinosa of Mt Olive, Jasmine (Alex) Pablo of Mt Olive, Carmen (Dorian Gallegos), Carina (Eriberto Baza-Arias)and Lilly Ventura of Mt Olive, Aiden Flora of Japan, Gabriel Owens and Willow Brennan of Kentucky. Grace Strickland of Fayetteville. Malachi Strickland of Wilson.

He was preceded in death by his parents (Isaac Sr. and Blanche) and siblings(George (Jo) Flora, John Flora, and Helen Myers).

Ike joined the US Air Force in June 1956 and retired after 20 years of dedicated service in July 1976. Following his years of service he moved the family to Kentucky from 1976-1990, Then the family moved to the Seven Springs community until moving to the Grantham community in 2002.

Ike enjoyed spending time with his family and cooking for them. He also enjoyed working in his garden and sharing the bounty with friends and family. He was an active member and deacon of Grant’s Chapel FreeWill Baptist Church in Seven Springs.

Graveside rites to honor the life of Ike Flora will be Thursday, April 13, at 2 p.m. at Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Goldsboro, N.C.  Officiating will be the Rev. Jeff Kearney.  The family will be receiving friends at the residence at 510 Selah Church Road, Goldsboro, in the Grantham community.  In lieu of flowers, it is requested that memorials be made to Grant’s Chapel Church or to Gideons International.
