Betsy Brockett Powell, 86, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2023, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center with her family by her side. Born on November 17, 1936, in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Claude M. Brockett and Geneva Williams Brockett.

Betsy graduated in 1960 from the Lenoir Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and was a registered nurse for many years at Wayne Memorial Hospital. She retired as a psychiatric nurse from the Wilson – Greene Mental Health Center. Her life’s mission was dedicated to serving others.

A service to honor Betsy’s life will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Goldsboro with Father Whit Stroud officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Burial will be held at Willow Dale Cemetery in Goldsboro.

Betsy is survived by her sons, Tres Powell and David Powell; half-sister, Claudia Brockett.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Paul Powell, Jr., and her sister, Eleanor Brockett Bobbitt.
