Adalyn Mae Martha Kornegay

Adalyn Mae Martha Kornegay

April 5, 2023, 7 mos., Goldsboro –

Adalyn Mae Martha Kornegay, the infant daughter of Tank Kornegay and Amaris Lawrence, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, April 5, 2023. Adalyn laughed and smiled throughout her 7 months; bringing joy and happiness to everyone she touched.

Adalyn’s big and beautiful blue eyes instantly captured her parents’ hearts from the moment they met. Entering the world at only 2 pounds and 15 ounces, Adalyn quickly showed the world that she was full of strength and determination.

Always a happy baby, Adalyn carried a smile on her face that would light up the room. Her huge personality and pleasant demeanor captivated family and friends. Just a few moments around her would brighten anyone’s day.

Snuggling tight with her stuffed animals, Adalyn loved each one. Nothing quite compared to a snuggle with a stuffie while watching Garfield on television. While babbling and cooing, Adalyn loved hearing the sound of her voice. You could often hear her screaming lavishly just for the joy of it. Getting in her jeep and riding was a highlight for any day. While riding in the car, Adalyn’s hand was always tightly gripped to the sloth toy that hung from her car seat. Whether sleeping or awake, she found comfort by holding on tight or teething on it.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Adalyn’s life at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Jeff Toler officiating. The interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

In addition to her parents, Adalyn is survived by her grandparents, Sonya Butler, Leroy Lawrence, Katrina Kornegay, and Tommy and Kelly Kornegay; great-grandparents, Charlene and Danny Reese, Sherri and Lawrence Kornegay, Kay and Eddie Newcomb and Geneva Lawrence; great-great-grandparents, Al and Peggy Laws; aunts and uncles, Kristin and Jackson Wooten, Gauge Norris, Kayden Newcomb and Avery Pearl Spencer (known as Aunt Sissy); cousin, Earl Wayne Wooten; a very special great aunt and uncle, Sharon and Gilbert Howell; as well as many other family and friends that have made a big difference in her life.

Adalyn was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Martha Lawrence, Leland Lawrence, Sr., and Joyce Wilson.
