United Way of Wayne County to Host Nonprofit Summit on April 26


Wayne County, NC- United Way of Wayne County is hosting a Nonprofit Summit on April 26,
2023, at the Walnut Building in Wayne Community College. The summit is an expanded version of
the agency’s annual nonprofit meeting and will include professional development workshops made
possible through a collaboration with Wayne Community College.


The summit is open to nonprofits operating in Wayne County and will include a networking
breakfast at no cost. Workshops will be offered to attendees on topics ranging from Board
development, donor engagement, and leadership development. A short presentation about disaster
preparedness and financial stability will also be given. United Way of Wayne County has secured
Jeanne Allen of Jeanne Allen Consulting, Andrew Herrera of Curamericas Global, and Sam Wright
of Armstrong McGuire to facilitate the workshops.


Jeanne Allen is a BoardSource Certified Governance Consultant and is an expert in board
development and governance as well as nonprofit leadership development. She has over 25 years of
experience in national, state, and local nonprofits as well as administration in a community college.

Andrew Herrera is the Executive Director of Curamericas Global and is responsible for leading
strategic initiatives, the development of the Board of Directors, and the day-to-day operations of the
agency. In 2020 and 2021, Andrew led the COVID response in NC to reach over 190,000 people
with a focus on equity, ensuring communities who need it the most, had access to basic healthcare.
Andrew has been recognized by the Triangle Business Journal as a Healthcare Hero and a 40 under
40 award winner.


Sam Wright is a Senior Advisor at Armstrong McGuire and has years of experience in the nonprofit
sector leading fundraising strategies, brand development, and analytics management.
