Idel Marie Gray, 68, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Barbour Court Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Smithfield.

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 26, 2023, from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. A graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. at Golden Gate Cemetery in Pikeville.

Idel was born in Lenoir County on January 2, 1955, to the late Robert Gray and Claudia Sutton Gray.

She is survived by her son, Jamaal Alabbass, aka “Pappy” and wife, Kisha; four grandchildren, Shameeka Campbell, Jamaal R. Alabbaas, Rashid Alabbaas, and Jamir Alabbbaas; one brother, Curtis Gray; one sister, Barbara Yelverton; three great-grandchildren, Cassady Alabbaas, Jameela Alabbaas, and Malik Lofton; three nieces, Patricia (Anthony) Taylor, Akeisha Gray and Elaine Gray and three nephews, Marcus Johnson Jr., Edward (Kamillah) Gray, and Tyia Gray.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Charles Gray and Robert Gray, and one sister, Diane Gray.
