JoAnn Adams Humphrey, 87, passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at her home surrounded by family. Born in Craven County on December 29, 1935, she was the daughter of the late William Adams and Ivey Dunn Adams Melton.

For over 60 years, JoAnn, along with her husband owned and operated George’s Body Shop in Goldsboro. JoAnn was the best mother her children could ask for. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Dennis Pollock officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery. JoAnn will lie in state on Tuesday afternoon from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. and Wednesday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon at Seymour Funeral Home.

JoAnn is survived by her daughters, Sandra Burnette and husband, Bill of Hendersonville and Georgia Faircloth of Goldsboro; son, Tommy Humphrey and Melinda Barnes of Goldsboro and Kerrie Gosnell of Hendersonville; grandchildren, Toby Faircloth and wife, Beth, Mary Gurganus and husband, Blake, Kourtney Humphrey, and Noah Humphrey; and great-grandchildren, Trey Faircloth, Gavin Faircloth, Bailee Faircloth, and Tate Gurganus. JoAnn is also survived by her brother, Ralph Melton of Craven County; lifetime friends, Dolly Bass and Curtis Alston; and her feline companion, Buddy.

In addition to her parents, JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, George Ray Humphrey; daughter, Kristie Lynn Humphrey; son, Jerry Allen Humphrey; son-in-law, Ronnie Faircloth; and sisters, Patsy Tyndall, Peggy Smith, Audrey Davis, and Sylvia Johnson.
