Edward Earl Garris, 97, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Earl was born in Wayne County on December 28, 1925, to the late George and Rebecca Newsome Garris. He was married to the late Ruby Bass Garris. For many years, Earl was a truck driver.

Earl was always giving and reaching out to others, there wasn’t a stranger he hadn’t met. He loved to make people laugh. Most would remember the joy that Earl’s presence would bring.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in the Pikeville Cemetery with Rev. Andy Stovall officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery.

Earl is survived by his nieces and nephews as well as many special friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Doug and Temple Herring for the love and kindness they showered on Earl.
