One person was seriously injured and another suffered minor injuries in an accident on Wayne Memorial Drive Thursday. It happened at around 2:30, according to the police repoprt.

75-year old Sheila Williams was ticketed for a red light violation after her car struck a vehicle operated by 17-year old Mariana Avilaambriz of Goldsboro.

Williams vehicle ended up in a field near a guide wire for a utility pole. The Goldsboro Fire Department worked to extricate Avilaambriz while Wayne County medics assessed each woman’s condition.

Williams suffered minor injuries. Avilaambriz had potentially serious injuries according to the police report. Both were taken to UNC Health Wayne.
