March 11, 2023, 66, Calypso –

David (T-Bone)Tyndall, 66, Calypso resident, and Mayor of Calypso, died early Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Wayne UNC Hospital.

Services will be held Friday, March 17, at 12 Noon at North Carolina State Veterans Cemetery at Goldsboro.  Officiating will be Rev. Nick Nielsen.

T-Bone was the son of the late James Herbert Tyndall and Dorothy Smith Tyndall.  He had served with the Army National Guard for 33 years and was deployed to Iraq for one tour of duty, and was the recipient of the Bronze Star.  He was active with the Boy Scouts of America, Pack 42 in Calypso, and had been den leader and committee chairman.  T-Bone enjoyed the outdoors, especially with a fishing pole in hand, and was serving as Mayor of Calypso at the time of his passing.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa Tyndall, of the home; a son, David Tyndall Jr., and wife, Elizabeth of Clayton; a daughter, Cora Gore of Calypso;  grandchildren, Vance Carter, Bailey Foster, Bryce Foster, Blair Cox,  Andrew, Kyle and Deisy; great-grandchildren, Ariyanna and Damian Kyle; a brother, Jim Tyndall /

In addition to his parents, T-Bone was preceded in death by a brother, Lamont Tyndall, a son, Joel Cox, and a granddaughter, Cora Cox.
