March 10, 2023, 87, Goldsboro –

Dan Hardy Wallace, 87, went peacefully to be with our Heavenly Father on Friday, March 10th, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was born in November of 1935 and raised on a farm in rural Bath, NC. He is the youngest of 11 children of the late Will and Delia Wallace.

After briefly attending East Carolina University, Dan began a career in the United States Air Force where he retired as Chief Master Sergeant in 1978. He had a long-time passion for building small fishing boats and performing boat repairs. Dan was an avid hunter and fisherman his entire life. He is remembered by many in the community as the long-time proprietor of Dan’s Country Store on South William Street, Goldsboro, NC.

A memorial service to honor Dan’s life will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home in Goldsboro. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow the services at Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with military honors.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marquita Wallace of Goldsboro, as well as daughter, Melanie Casey, and husband, Stephen of Raleigh, NC; his sons, Tim of Fayetteville NC, Jody and wife, Lizzette of Graham NC; grandchildren, Danny Morales and wife, Rachael, Josh Casey and wife, Jennifer and their son, Jackson, Tyler Wallace, Alex Wallace, and Morgan Casey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Rachel, Fenner, Bill, Edna, Nancy, Bud, Jack, Leon, and Josephine.
