Sarah Louise Whitley Conway

March 7, 2023, 82, Goldsboro –

Sarah Louise Whitley Conway, 82, was received into the presence of her Lord in the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 7, 2023. Louise was born in Greene County to the late Robert Edward Lee Whitley and Tiny Lou Perry Whitley on May 30, 1940. In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her husband, James Earl Conway; sister, Myrtle Ann Whitley McCullen and brothers, Robert Edward Whitley, Carl Ray Whitley, and Joseph Donald Whitley.

Being raised on the family farm, a spirit of hard work was ingrained into her being. Growing up in a large family, Louise learned early on how to get along with everybody and remained a constant source of love and support for her family.

Louise learned the value of hard work early in life and was a valued employee of Century Uniform for 15 years. The family was of utmost importance to Louise, and nothing was more special than having everyone home for a large spread.

With a great love for the Lord, Louise was a founding member of Adamsville Church of God and has been a faithful member of Park East Church of God as often as her health allowed. Her church family was an extension of her own, and she invited anyone that would join them at every opportunity she could.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Park East Church of God, 3913 McLain Street, Goldsboro. A service to celebrate Louise’s life will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary with Pastor Cullen Jarman officiating. Interment will be at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 12, 2023, in the Patetown Cemetery.

Louise is survived by her daughters, Teresa Ann Gwaltney (Joe Dan) of Goldsboro, Patricia Carol Wiggins (Danny) of Goldsboro, Mary Frances Conway (Kevin) of Goldsboro, and Tina Louise Southward (Todd) of Rosewood; sister, Peggy Crow of Tennessee; brothers, Dennis Whitley of Kinston, William Whitley of Georgia and Phillip Whitley of Faro; six grandchildren, Stephanie Lack (Matt), JoAnna Pippin (Gregory), Shay Slapper, Timothy Aycock (Ali), Johnathon Aycock (MeKayla) and Joshua Wall (Eva) and 14 great-grandchildren.
