Edward Gene Braswell, 69, passed away suddenly on Thursday, March 2, 2023. He was born in Onslow County to Christine P. Bartlett and the late Bobby Braswell on December 18, 1953. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Crawford, and brother, Ricky Braswell.

Ed spent his life as an oil tanker truck driver. He was skilled and knew how to do his job well. He spent over 50 years in the business, working with various companies, and Potter Oil Company in Aurora, NC for the last 15 years.

When he wasn’t working, Ed found a great love for motorcycles and tractors. He had an antique International Tractor that was a treasure. But he found a lot of joy in the new tractor he recently bought as well.

While Ed was passionate about motorcycles and tractors, time with his sweetheart, Ellen, made it all better. She was his partner in life. Ed and Ellen made a beautiful pair. Ed’s life was better because Ellen was in it. She made his days brighter.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 6, 2023, in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Dennis Pollock officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery.

Ed is survived by his partner of 34 years, Ellen Grice, and her family, Pamela Roberts, and Todd Grice. He is also survived by his mother, Christine Bartlett; son, Christopher Braswell, and wife, Tammy; brother, Kenneth Braswell, and wife, Norma; sister, Sheila Parrish and husband, Jeff; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given in Ed’s memory to the charity of one’s choice.
