Two Solar Farms Planned for Goldsboro

A pair of solar farms are up for consideration at the next Wayne County Board of Commissioners’ meeting. Each would be on farmland or woodland properties.

According to Wayne County Planning Director Berry Gray, the Stevens Mill Energy Facility would be located on Stevens Mill Road between Black Jack Church Road and James Hinson Road. The 80 MWac (megawatt/ac) facility would be on a 413 acre site.

The other facility would be on 1,200 acres near Greenfield Cemetery Road, Broadhurst Road, and Indian Springs Road. It would be operated by Sasser Solar, LLC. It also would be an 80 MWac (megawatt/ac) facility.

Gray notes that the facilities would be run by different companies and only coincidentally ended up coming before Commissioners at the same time. Public Hearings are scheduled for 9:30 am Tuesday, March 7. The board might take action on the projects following the Public Hearings.
