February 25, 2023, 93, Calypso –

Lettie Taylor Thigpen, 93, Calypso resident, went to be with the Lord Saturday afternoon, February 25, 2023.  God dispatched His angels for her while she was at her home.

Mrs. Thigpen was a native of Lenoir County.  She was a devout Christian who enjoyed singing and visiting area churches during revivals and other special events.  Known for her excellence in cooking and preparing meals, her homemade biscuits were of utmost desire. 

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, February 28, at 6 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive, followed by visitation.  Burial will be Wednesday, March 1, at 11 a.m. in the Pate Cemetery.  Officiating clergymen will be the Rev. Brian Gay and the Rev. Daniel Lewis.

Mrs. Thigpen is survived by four children, Kathy Thigpen of the home in Calypso, Lylton Ray Thigpen and wife, Juliann, of Delway, Jeffrey Lynn Thigpen and wife, Kim, of Kenansville, and Stephen Lee Thigpen and wife, Teresa, of Calypso; grandchildren, Douglas Thigpen, Lori Jernigan, Clinton Thigpen, Mitchell Thigpen, and Corey Thigpen; great-grandchildren, Julie, Cameron, Mikayla, Jayden, Elliana, and Lane Arthur; brother, Brad Taylor of Kinston; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Thigpen; parents, John Taylor and Sallie Taylor; and brothers, Charlie Mack Taylor, Leonard Taylor, and Freddie Taylor; and sister, Myrtie Taylor Davis; and two infant grandsons, Mitchell Lynn Thigpen, and Jeffrey Trevor Thigpen.
