Giorgio Kristev Named Director of Information Technology

Wayne County is pleased to announce that Giorgio Kristev has been promoted to the director of information technology. Kristev replaces Ryan Preble, who left Wayne County in January to pursue a role in county management. As director of information technology, Kristev will oversee networking, telecommunications, database and application development, web services, financial and emergency systems, and emerging technologies for Wayne County.

“Our Information Technology department is crucial to the County’s everyday operation,” said County Manager Chip Crumpler. “We look forward to having Giorgio in this role. He is respected by his peers and will continue to provide growth and progress in the ever-evolving world of technology.”

Giorgio is approaching 15 years of service with Wayne County and has over 25 years of experience in the computer technology and industrial electrical industries. Prior roles with the County include sheriff systems administrator, county senior systems administrator, senior systems engineer, North Carolina Property Tax System programmer, and technical services supervisor. He is a certified Government Chief Information Officer from the UNC School of Government and has participated in the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Wayne program.

“Information Technology can be broken down into three basic components, technology, processes, and people,” said Kristev. “I’ve always believed that if you lead with your heart and invest in people, the technology and processes will fall into place. I look forward to leading the County with technology and support.”
