Thomas Wilson New, age 55, passed away on Tuesday at his residence. Born in Sampson County, he was the son of Patricia Holder New and the late Herbert New, Sr. Prior to his illness he was a dedicated driver for UPS. He was also a Veteran of the US Army and an avid golfer.

A service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday at 2:00 pm at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with Pastor Charles Ray Jernigan officiating. The family will greet friends on Sunday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 pm at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.

In addition to his mother, Tommy is survived by his wife, Susan New; a son, Gavin New; his sisters, Angelia S. New, Cathy A. New, and Deborah J. Harrell and husband, Mark; his brothers, Herbert E. New, Jr. and wife, Diane, David W. New, and wife, Cindy, Jeffrey L. New, and Robert L. New and wife, Billie Von; along with his mother in law, Joyce Grice and husband, Keith.
