Increased Fire Danger for Tuesday

There will be an increased fire danger on Tuesday. The National Weather Service warns westerly winds will gust up to 20 to 30 mph across central North Carolina from late morning to early evening Tuesday, and the relative humidity is expected to drop to as low as 25 to 35 percent. This combination of gusty winds and low humidity will quickly dry out fuels such as leaves and tree litter. this may lead to adverse fire behavior.

People are encouraged to reconsider conducting burns on Tuesday, as fires can quickly spread out of control under these weather conditions.
