Billie Ann Caulder Mozingo

Billie Ann Caulder Mozingo, 84, of Goldsboro passed away Saturday evening, February 11, 2023, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center with her daughter, Frankie Mozingo Best, and husband, Kevin Best, by her side.

Born July 22, 1938, in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Inez Martin Caulder and late Luther Caulder. She was the wife of Ben F. Mozingo for 57 years until he passed in July 2020.

Billie Ann worked at AP Parts for 15 years before going to work with Wayne County Public Schools. She retired from the School System and went to work at Tuesday Morning retail store until they closed. She then worked at Maxway’s in downtown Goldsboro. Billie will be remembered for her love of jewelry by all who knew her.

After deciding to retire from work, she stayed home to care for the precious babies that she received as “The Best Christmas Present Ever” from her husband. Two miniature horses named Bonnie and Clyde. They were her most loved and spoiled babies as she called them.

She is survived by her daughter, Frankie Mozingo Best, and husband, Kevin, Holly Ridge, NC; granddaughter, Jordan Jones Dempsey and husband, Mike, Chapel Hill, NC; great-granddaughter Miller Jo Dempsey (Chapel Hill); one son, JR Cox, Raleigh; four cousins whom she considered to be her sisters, Betty Underwood, Greenville, SC, Bonnie Price, Grantham Community, Connie Bennett, Grantham Community and Geraldine Nicholson, Norfolk, VA; two very special family friends she considered to be her sons, Joe Tudor, Goldsboro, NC, and James Marlow, Goldsboro, NC; and a very special nephew, Earl Lindsey, and wife, Jan, Roper, NC; daughter-in-law, Bobbie “Cissie” Perry Chestnutt; three granddaughters, Monica Chestnutt, Casey Chestnutt, and Amanda Chestnutt.

In addition to her parents, Billie Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Ben F. Mozingo; brother, Bobby Caulder and son, Keith Chestnutt.

A service of love and remembrance will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at 2 p.m. at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Goldsboro.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the caretakers of Kitty Askins for their wonderful care and loving support for Billie Ann and her family during her last two weeks at their amazing facility.
