Lynn O’Daniel Gentry

Lynn O’Daniel Gentry

February 2, 2023, 60, Goldsboro –

Lynn O’Daniel Gentry, 60, passed away at home after a long and courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, February 2, 2023.

Lynn is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 34 years, Tim Gentry; daughter, Danielle Gentry; son, Chandler Gentry and his girlfriend, Courtney Butler. She is also survived by her parents Bobby and Judy O’Daniel. Lynn was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Linwood Earl, and Annie Gold Summerlin.

Lynn was born on March 2, 1962, in Passaic, New Jersey, but spent her childhood in Goldsboro, North Carolina. She attended Eastern Wayne High School (Class of 1980), and went on to graduate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Pharmacy in 1985. Lynn was a dedicated Pharmacist at Wayne Memorial Hospital and retired after 34 years of employment.

Lynn was full of life and loved by all who got the chance to meet her. Her faith in the Lord sustained her throughout her battle with cancer, and she never lost hope. She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, where she and Tim married in 1990.

Lynn was happiest at the coast with her family, whether she was walking on the beach with her daughter, Danielle, as they collected sea glass; sitting by the pool reading with her mother, Judy; riding on the boat with her husband, Tim; eating fresh seafood with her father, Bob; or visiting the Beaufort waterfront with her son, Chandler, his girlfriend, Courtney, and their dog, Maverick. Lynn was so connected to the beach, that her family even saw a lone seagull flying over their house in Goldsboro on one of her final days.

Lynn enjoyed traveling with her lifelong friends, college roommates, and co-workers, from the coast of North Carolina to the coast of California.

The Gentry family is thankful and grateful to all their family and friends who encouraged and supported them on this journey. They especially appreciate the care Lynn received from the doctors and staff at Southeastern Medical Oncology Center (SMOC) as well as the nurses and staff on the Oncology floor at Wayne Memorial Hospital. They are also appreciative of the loving care she received through Community Home Care & Hospice of Goldsboro.

Visitation will be held at Seymour Funeral home on Monday, February 6th from 6-8 pm. A graveside service to celebrate Lynn’s life will be held at Willow Dale Cemetery on Tuesday, February 7th at 11 am with Reverend Stanley Kirby officiating.

In lieu of flowers, Lynn requested contributions be made in her memory to SMOC’s nonprofit, Southeastern Cancer Care Cures for the Colors, 203 Cox Blvd., Goldsboro, NC 2734, in addition to Community Home Care & Hospice of Goldsboro’s Gentiva Foundation, 2309 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
