February 6, 2023, 55, Smithfield –

Gwendolyn Gay Bailey, 55, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2023, at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield.  She was born on March 27, 1967, to the late David Earl Bailey and Laura Elizabeth Stephenson Creech. 

Gwen enjoyed going for drives, and spending time at the lake, and with her family.  She loved cooking and being in the kitchen.

The family will gather on Thursday, February 16, 2023, at 6:00 pm at the Bridge, 951 M. Durwood Stephenson Parkway, Smithfield, NC  27577 for a Celebration of Life Service commemorating Gwendolyn Gay Bailey.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Turner (Justin) of Dudley; grandchildren, Brayden Anderson, Georgia Anderson, and Jaisen Turner; sister, Crystal Fornwalt (John) of Princeton; stepmother, Wilma Boyette; nieces and nephews, Misty Bernabe (Ivan) of Selma, Johnny Beasley (Dee) of Selma; and beloved great nieces and nephews; aunts, Ann Williford of Goldsboro, Teresa Massey (Jimmy) of Selma and Mary Sullivan of Goldsboro; and several beloved Uncles; several stepbrother and stepsisters; “Son”, Billy Anderson (Melissa) and their son Houston and many cousins.
