Elaine Elegra Sopher

February 3, 2023, 90, Goldsboro –

Elaine Elegra Sopher, 90, slipped away to her eternal home on February 3, 2023, at UNC Wayne Hospital. Born in Geauga County, Ohio on November 5, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Ervin C. Troxell and Florence Jones Troxell.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Lloyd D. Creger Jr; daughters, Vickie J. Creger and Stephanie Creger; step-grandson, Jason Sopher; brothers, Eugene Troxell and Buhr Troxell and sisters, Joyce Clegg and Audrey Kerry.

Integrity, professionalism, and respect were extremely important to Elaine. It was those core values along with her love for helping others that drew her to become a member of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary for Women in FL. She continued to be a member of that organization until she relocated.

A “Vein Whisperer” in her own right, Elaine worked as a phlebotomist for many years and was quite good at it. She loved to make sure that everyone knew that. As a matter of fact, during her final days, she let every lab tech know that she used to be a phlebotomist and made sure to tell them that they did a good job because “she was no easy stick!”

Of all of the things that Elaine enjoyed, the family was at the top of her list. She loved her husband, children, and grandchildren, and spending time with them was truly a highlight. Nothing made her smile more than her Sunday afternoon dates to the movies with the apple of her eye, Robert.

Elaine will be immensely missed by her loving family and cherished friends. She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Robert Sopher; daughter, Karen Bainbridge, and husband, William; bonus children, Carrie Earley and husband, Norman, Danny Sopher, and Robert Sopher; daughter-in-law, Susan Creger; sister, Marilyn Baker; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; beloved fur baby, Oreo; many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A service of love and remembrance will be held at a later date.
